TL;DR
IPTech's school bus system includes GPS tracking, RFID student boarding cards, DMS driver monitoring, parent mobile app with real-time bus location, geofenced school zones, speed limiters, and AI-powered bad weather route adjustment. Deployed across private schools in the Eastern Province.
What Parents Want to Know
Three questions: Where is my child's bus right now? Did my child get on the bus? What time will they arrive? A good school bus tracking system answers all three, automatically.
System Components
- GPS tracker: real-time location every 10 seconds. Parents see the bus on a map in the mobile app.
- RFID cards: each student taps their card when boarding and alighting. The system logs who's on the bus at any moment. Parents get an SMS when their child boards.
- DMS camera: monitors the driver for fatigue, phone use, and distraction. Schools see a driver safety score.
- Speed limiter: school zones configured as geofences. Speed automatically reduced to 30 km/h within 500m of any school.
- Parent app: real-time bus location, ETA, boarding confirmations, and delay notifications. Available in Arabic and English.
Bad Weather Protocol
During heavy rain or sandstorms, the platform adjusts pickup routes to avoid flood-prone areas. Parents receive a notification if routes change. If a bus is delayed by more than 10 minutes, the app shows the updated ETA.
Wrong-Location Alert
If a student boards a bus at a stop that isn't their assigned pickup point, the system flags it. The school coordinator and parent both receive an alert. This catches situations where children take the wrong bus.
