Snapshot
A heavy-fleet FMS deployment for Crescent covering 400 trucks and 800 trailers, with Smart Weight digital axle-load sensors over RS232 at 95% accuracy. High-rate crash analytics capture 100 messages every 0.1 seconds, driver scoring and authorization govern vehicle usage with driver identification, and custody transfer is tracked end to end. The deployment includes manufacturer-approved CANBUS with extensive data acquisition.

The Challenge
Crescent operates a heavy logistics fleet of 400 trucks and 800 trailers across Saudi Arabia. Without real-time axle load data, overloaded trailers left depots undetected, creating liability exposure and road compliance risk. Crash incident reconstruction relied on driver accounts rather than data — there was no high-rate event capture. Driver authorisation was managed manually: without a whitelist system, vehicles could be moved by unauthorised operators. Trailer custody transfers between depots had no digital record. At the scale of 800 trailers, tracking which trailer was coupled to which truck required platform capability that was not available.
Our Solution
IPTech deployed a full fleet management system across all 400 trucks and 800 trailers. Smart Weight digital axle-load sensors over RS232 are installed on every trailer, providing 95% weight accuracy before each vehicle leaves the yard. High-rate crash analytics capture 100 data messages every 0.1 seconds around impact events, giving reconstruction teams the precise data needed for incident analysis. Driver behaviour scoring runs continuously, covering speed, harsh braking, and acceleration events. A whitelist-based driver authorisation system ensures only approved operators can start vehicles, with driver identification logged for every trip. Trailer identification and usage tracking records every coupling event. Custody transfer is documented end to end. Manufacturer-approved CANBUS integration feeds engine health data into the FMS for preventive maintenance. Route compliance and real-time tracking give operations visibility across the entire fleet at any moment.
The Results
Crescent manages 400 trucks and 800 trailers under unified real-time visibility. Smart Weight axle load monitoring at 95% accuracy has shifted weight compliance from roadside risk to yard-level control. Crash analytics at 100 messages per 0.1 seconds provide reconstruction-grade data for every incident. Driver authorisation via whitelist has eliminated unauthorised vehicle movement. Custody transfer records are now digital, with full chain-of-custody documentation for every trailer movement. Manufacturer-approved CANBUS integration delivers engine condition data that drives maintenance scheduling rather than calendar intervals.
